Director Karnes presented the Librarian’s report. She also said that the carpet at the Brownstown Branch Library needs to be cleaned this spring. She will get a quote for that. She will also check with our insurance carrier about alcohol on the library premises. At St. Elmo Library they now have all the CD’s put on the librarians desk. At the Beecher City Branch Library JoAn Evans said they had 35 children at the after school crafts. And they had six helpers. Five were present for the book club. Also the book signing with Georgia Evans had to be postponed because of illness. When they do reschedule it she would like to have an author from Pana IL who has written a couple of books about the Pana coal mines come also. The driveway at the Beecher City Branch Library needs grated and may need more rock.
Wayne Moran had quotes from New Wave for phone and internet for Brownstown Branch Library. The board decided to go with a package of phone (29.99) and internet (54.99). For the St. Elmo Library they will use Mediacom. And at Beecher City Branch Library they will use the Hot Spot at the librarians desk and a straight talk phone at the desk, until Wabash runs fiber optic into Beecher City. Motion by Arnold, seconded by Kamnick to cancel Frontier when these three things are in place. Motion carried.
The Board approved the Ameren Easement for Beecher City.
Director Karnes said the time sheets online went well.
The Board discussed whether a substitute librarian should get paid, if they were scheduled to work on an unscheduled closed day. They also decided that a regularly scheduled substitute librarian should be considered a part time librarian instead of a substitute.
